Dr Merce Garcia-Mila

Dr. Merce Garcia-Mila (PhD in Cognition and Learning, Columbia University, NY, USA) is full professor at the Cognition, Development and Educational Psychology Department. She has been a visiting professor at the School of Education at Stanford University (CA, USA, 2008) and at San Jose State University, CA, USA). She has also been the Research coordinator of the Institute of Childhood and Urban World in Barcelona (2004-2010). Garcia-Mila’s research focusses on learning and argumentation in school contexts, especially science learning and scientific reasoning. The specific expertise for the DIALLS project is her expertise on dialogic argumentation analysis in the classroom and her background in statistics and experimental design that will help with the experimental implementation and analysis of the project data (WP3, WP5 & WP6).
