Prof Dr Michael Baker

Dr Michael Baker (PhD cognitive science; Habilitation psychology) is a Research Director (equivalent tenured research professor) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), working in the French National Graduate Telecom Engineering School (Télécom ParisTech) in Paris. His research aims to understand the processes of emergence of knowledge in (argumentation) dialogues in educational and work situations, in relation to technology mediation. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. Michael Baker’s research publications and communications include over 30 journal articles, 10 books and 20 invited speaker presentations. Over the past 25 years he has participated in several successfully evaluated EU-funded projects on computer support for argumentation-based learning.

Within the DIALLS project, he is co-responsible (with Françoise Détienne) for the Online platform for cultural literacy learning (WP6).
