D’Jamila Garcia

D’Jamila Garcia (degree in Applied Psychology from ISPA-IU, with a postgraduate degree in Data Analysis in Social Sciences and a PhD in Psychology from ISCTE-IUL) works as a research assistant at the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and joined the Portuguese team in the DIALLS collaboration in 2020. As a psychologist, she worked in social and community intervention, namely with immigrant populations and ethnic minorities in social and economically disadvantaged contexts. More recently, she worked in public health at the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction. As a researcher, she has collaborated on projects developed with children and adolescents in school contexts. Her research interests are peer violence at school (bullying and cyberbullying), well-being in childhood and adolescence, school failure, and the promotion of socio-emotional skills in children and young people, namely through dialogue and argumentation. D’Jamila will assist DIALLS in several tasks and will primarily be engaged in sustaining and widening impact (WP4), dialogue and argumentation analysis (WP5) and the scale of progression for cultural literacy (WP7).
