Ana Remesal Ortiz (PhD. University of Barcelona. Department for Cognition, Development and Educational Psychology) defended her doctoral thesis on teachers’ and pupils’ conceptions of assessment and mathematics learning in primary and secondary education. For the last 20 years she has been a member of the research group GRINTIE, specialized in assessment, e-learning/CSCL, and teacher education, developing qualitative research methods (classroom research, content analysis, and discourse analysis). Other topics of interest are motivation and L2/foreign language learning. As a doctoral student she visited several foreign institutions in Australia (University of Melbourne –LPS project), USA (University of Georgia) and Germany (Free University Berlin, University of Münster), which gave her the opportunity for broad international collaboration and to get to know ‘other’ approaches to school education, learning and teaching cultures, and research methods (argumentation analysis). She also worked for one year at University of Frankfurt (at the IDM as ‘WiMi’) before returning to the University of Barcelona, actively contributing to primary and secondary teacher education. For DIALLS, Ana will contribute to the dialogue and argumentation analysis (WP5).
