Prof Dr Michael Baker

Local Coordinator

Dr Michael Baker (PhD cognitive science; Habilitation psychology) is a Research Director (equivalent tenured research professor) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), working in the French National Graduate Telecom Engineering School (Télécom ParisTech) in Paris. His research aims to understand the processes of emergence of knowledge in (argumentation) dialogues in educational and work situations, in relation to technology mediation. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. Michael Baker’s research publications and communications include over 30 journal articles, 10 books and 20 invited speaker presentations. Over the past 25 years he has participated in several successfully evaluated EU-funded projects on computer support for argumentation-based learning. Within the DIALLS project, he is co-responsible (with Françoise Détienne) for the Online platform for cultural literacy learning (WP6).

Prof Dr Françoise Détienne

Assistant Coordinator

Dr Françoise Détienne (PhD Cognitive Psychology; Habilitation Psychology) is a Research Professor at the CNRS i3 lab associated to Télécom ParisTech. After a two year postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University in the AI Department, she joined INRIA-Rocquencourt in 1989 where she headed the research team Eiffel "Cognition and Cooperation in Design". Her research interests concern technology-mediated collaboration, collective work, quality of collaboration, communities of practices, methodologies for assessing groupware. Her publications include two books and around 160 scientific papers. She is an associated editor of the International Journal of Human Computer Studies and Interacting with Computers. Within the DIALLS project, she is co-responsible (with Michael Baker) for the Online platform for cultural literacy learning (WP6).

Dr Stéphane Safin

Researcher

Dr Stéphane Safin is an Associate Professor in Cognitive Ergonomics, at Télécom ParisTech, the French National Graduate School in Telecommunications Engineering. After having gained his PhD in psychology at the University of Liège (Belgium) in 2011, he was a post-doc researcher at the University of Montréal then an Assistant professor at University Paris 8. His research is on the role of technology mediation in group design and creativity, with particular emphasis on Activity Theory and theory of flow.

Dr Gabriel Pallares

Researcher

Dr Gabriel Pallares is a young post-doctoral researcher at the CNRS i3 lab associated to Télécom ParisTech. Previously, he was a post-doctoral researcher in the ARgumentation Et Numérique (AREN) project (e-FRAN, Programme of Investment for the Future, operated by the Caisse des Dépôts group of the French General Commissariat of Investment) at the University of Montpellier. He received PhD in Education Sciences, University of Montpellier, within this same research project. His research interests include argumentation teaching/learning, critical thinking teaching/learning and socioscientific issues. His research in DIALLS involves principally development of methods for analysing interactions between students and coordinating feedback from users of the DIALLS online educational platform.

Dr Lucas Bietti

Former Researcher

Dr Lucas Bietti is a post-doctoral researcher at the CNRS i3 lab associated to Télécom ParisTech. Previously, he was a Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione Fellow at the University of Neuchâtel and an EU Marie Curie Research Fellow at Télécom ParisTech. He also held an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI), Essen and VU University Amsterdam. He received PhDs in Linguistics, Macquarie University, Sydney and Linguistic Communication, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona (joint enrollment). His research interests include collaborative remembering, collaborative learning, storytelling, cultural transmission, embodied communication and distributed cognition.
